Hike to Heavens *

I am not much into landscape photography but Mountaineering is one of the things i love the most.
i have not submitted any landscape photos in challenges but i have tons of photographs of mountains/hiking/backpacking/climbing from my trips.

This photo is taken yesterday just below the summit of Flattop Mountain (12324 ft) on my way back.
The hike is 9 miles round-trip, with about 3000 ft elevation gain.

here are some photos from the Flattop mountain hike. Alex, you will find some regular/non-abstract-looking landscape compositions in the gallery. thanks for looking. -Abstract

Thank you Mary Anne, Alexei and Paul.
This is so amazing that everybody is pointing out different things-in/interpretation-of the photograph. Alexei, you make a very good point. imo it would have taken away the abstractness of the shot though. i have some shots like that (not at this location though), so i will post the link, once I upload the album.
Thank you all for your kind words. -Abstract

Very good Abs, when i first looked at this my eyes were drawn far off to the right and those distant mountains as you've captured the sense of distance so well and then back to the footsteps in the front in the snow. This is so different to a snapshot hiking photo, it's almost like a composite of seperate images. Abstract indeed.

This is very nice winter landscape, great vibramt blues and the whites are just right. * It would be even better if some human size detail would be visible close to the end of the track like hiker, skier, hut, dog

The tracks through the snow also give a sense of immediacy to the image, which would be lacking in a more typical panoramic view. Good eye, Abs.

Thank you Shu, Aam, Rod and Rich for your comments. you perfectly identified my personal "signature" in the shot. the "abstract" element, as you guys mentioned, always makes my shots different/unusual from my fellow-friends/hikers' photos and thats why i chose to add it for the "signature-shot" challenge.
i also like the way steps kind of disappear in the sky...hence the title.

Nice shot Abs, tracks add interest, I agree with Shu that there is an abstract element here.
Rod 13-Jun-2005 05:56
The shot works well Abs, well done mate. Just be careful with the hiking, as all that exercise can't be good for you.

The diagonal line makes more engaging. Excellent composition.

The main image line being a "diagonal," it almost looks like an abstract, Abstract. Slices of sky, mt.tops and snow slope make this a bit more unusual than most images. It must have been a great day, Abs! Shu

Thank you Pedro. you are quick in comments. i increased the contrast a little bit. Thanks for the suggestion. -Abstract

Excellent compo, Abs. Like the mountains in the back. I know you couldn't wait, but a darker sky would make more contrast and improve the scene.
