Cien aņos de soledad...*

Joshua Tree National Park, California

I take pictures because I can't paint... If I could, I would probably paint feelings.

This spring was probably the wettest in the recorded history of Californian deserts. It was still raining a little when I got to JTree, and everything was new and bursting with color and crazy with growing. Except for this guy...

In the middle of this celebration of life, he was gray and lifeless like he'd been forever and lonely like he'll always be.

That feeling that your cross is just yours and life, amazingly, always goes on - this is what it looks like.

Excellent. Like the yellow flowers, like the García Marquez title... very well done.

I get a vivid message from this, Ionoa,. The lone tree is one that shows age, great strength and lonliness, too(.Very much like the aging process). Perhaps the gray skies warn of the end of life. For me, the image evokes sadness, but also the hope that mother nature understands it all.

Beautifully seen and captured. Shu

Wonderfully evocative photo, Ioana, but I think I'd like to see the yellow flowers "pop" a little more. I have a feeling you've written a poem about this, but if you haven't, your description is a good beginning. Please share with us if you have.

the difference between sky/tree and grass-flower color almost gives feeling about selective saturation and i love the way you have captured the scene. it seems you like hiking. i might add some climbing (garden of the gods) or hiking (flattop) photos in eligible from this weekend trip too. -Abstract

Love the tittle Ioana. And the picture too. I like the composition (how you cropped the tree's branches) and the contradiction of the dry tree with all the flowers at the bottom.

Very nice narrative Ioana & a shot that does as you intended by conveying the new growth & old growth. Life & death, both equal partners in our life cycle. Well done.
