Hibiscus *

@Mom's

Today, very early, my mother called to tell me that several of her hibiscus were blossoming. She and Dad have a collection of them. So after breakfast, my daughter and I went to my Mom's house. I hope the picture does justice to at least one of the flowers there.

Thanks for your words, Gerald!

Very good work: amazing colors, perfect light, sharp detail. The background makes the subject stand out nicely. And, as Pops remarked, well suited as wallpaper.

Nugar, I keep coming back to look at this photo. Can I add it to my wallpaper collection?

Thanks Rich, Rod and PhotoNUT. It does seem to be compression artifacts. They also appear in the thumbnail. I'd think PBase's compression is not optimized for that detail?
PhotoNUT 05-Nov-2004 22:52
Rich, that looks like compression artifacts

Nugar, your close ups are great! I really like the colors & composition here.

The back lighting really helps to make this shot a ripper. Great shot Nugar & well worth the effort your daughter put in:-)

It is great colors Nugar and nice flower but what is that "noise?" that appears around stamen (not sure if correct name) more obvious when viewed in medium?
Nugar05-Nov-2004 20:51
Oh, I forgot: These hibiscus are potted, so I had the chance of moving them to better use the light.

Hi Pops,

Thanks for your comment! Well, the lighting is natural. This was shot at an open garage and the light was comming from the right. The background is a piece of that light cardboard students use. I had my daughter hold it for the whole session, lol! I'm glad you liked it, Mom's hibiscus are just incredible, mostly in size. I grew accustomed to the "normal" hibiscus, which is just about everywhere in Panama. These are imports.

Very nice, Nugar. What did you use for the background and the lighting? I like the back lit effect very much!
