Rainy Night Light (*)

Please bare with me here...I just received my A80 a few days ago so I'm still learning about my camera. I thought - what better way to learn than by entering these challenges? I welcome any/all comments because I know that's the only way I can learn and improve. Thank You! :)

I like the moody feel of this one. I'm wondering what it would look like in black and white. It almost is and I'm not sure about the green color around the light itself. I like the composition very much with the light and reflection off to the side and the rest of the image very dark. Ann C

I like the mood but I feel like I'd like to back up a few steps to get the bigger picture. Great exposure.

I like this the best of the 3 shots you've entered. It creates a mood and gives a feeling of a cold, rainy night.
Something about the composition isn't quite right though, maybe it's the pavement or maybe it's the angle. Not a criticism but something to be aware of in the future. Overall, a very good shot and a great start!

Thanks Lee & Pops :)

I struggled with my cropping options for a bit there. I decided to keep a bit of the sidewalk joint showing there to add further texture to the bottom of the picture. I also kept the length of the picture on the top for that same reason.

I was also trying to go for that rule of thirds thing in my composition - perhaps I did not entirely succeed, or, perhaps sometimes that rule can be tweaked further?

I agree, this is nice. I would have cropped a bit more off the top and enough off the right to remove the joint in the sidewalk. Although cloning out the joint and leaving the width might work as well too.

Good start Briana.
