Great idea, I agree that it could do with less contrast. I like the font, must look up the website - I have heaps of standard fonts, but can never find ones I really like.
Excellent dog photo, and really nice presentation. What is that font called? I searched everywhere for one similar for my Australia ad.

Great public service announcement, the dog's expression just tugs at one's heartstrings. The B&W works well and helps to emphasize the text in red, and the square composition works well. Could just be my monitor, but the image is a bit too contrasty for my taste.
