Brent's old style refers to Light (and its treatment) not Composition.

If this is Brents old style I would like to see lots more of it. The kid, Mother & bloke in the cap makes this picy very special. Great shot mate.

Yeah, I noticed that about the lighting in this photo. As you said, the light is coming from all sides, including the top. It's just that this photo reminds me of your old style :)
Thanks Mary Anne :-) Yeah that little girl is cuter than a bugs ear ;-) Thanks for your input Aam, hard to say what I did in the processing back then. I know the increased dynamic range of my new camera has me doing things a little different these days. Keep in mind this scene was well let by sunlight on both sides and bulbs down the middle- not a lot of natural contrast :-)

The first thing that came to my mind when I saw this pic is...your old style, which I'm glad you abandoned. If I were to guess, I'd say your old style calls for lifting the shadows up and pushing the highlights down, which resulted, for me at least, in an unnatural-looking photos that I don't feel comfortable looking at. Glad you don't do that any more :)
Brent, I love the way that cute little baby is looking right at the camera and the young guy behind her is sort of looking, but all the adults are just oblivious of you.
