Challenge 77: Triangles and Diagonals

“Triangles and Diagonals”

Challenge 77 - Triangles and diagonals
This topic is requires you to enter photographs of any subject matter that includes two of the most powerful compositional tools in dramatic eye-pleasing pictures. Slanting lines create immediate drama in your photos and can be captured solely through your composition in the camera viewfinder or simply by looking for natural occurring or inferred triangles. Often we all fall into the trap of having purely horizontal, vertical or parallel lines running across the frames of our photos…
It seems we somehow feel the need to “square things up” all too often, and this can lead to results that are often boring. Slanting lines create drama and work well as they interact with the square photos our cameras capture. The drama is created through this degree of instability and adds “tension” that excites the viewer of these compositions. Look for naturally occurring triangles and diagonal lines in nature and the world around you, etc…. Or simply manufacture your own…. Anything goes, from macro to landscapes… If you look hard enough, you’ll find them all around you… Good Luck!
