Ladakh 2010

Rahil flew to Leh with his Mom and Dad on July 26, 2010. It was his second trip to Ladakh, the previous one occurring in June of 2008 (see http://www.pbase.com/csw62/rahil_in_ladakh_2008).

Highlights included a trip to Pangong Tso, an 80-mile long lake located 14,270 feet above sea level on the Indo-Chinese border. The weather was perfect, and Rahil had a blast wading in the water, throwing rocks, and finding tiny crustaceans. To get there he ascended Chang La, purportedly the third-highest motorable pass in the world at almost 17,600', where he spent most of his time eating snow of various shades.

Other highlights included another trip to Leh's donkey orphanage, to the Holy Fish Pond at Shey, and to the Tikse gompa. He also made his first visit to LAMO's newly renovated facility directly underneath the old palace; see http://www.lamo.org.in/ for more information on this fantastic ngo. And he and his Dad watercolor painted together for the first time.
