Ahmedabad hosts an annual Kite Festival the culminates on the auspicious day of January 14th. We decided to go. Reports put the total number of kites in the sky that day at four million(!). People use glass-coated string to cut their neighbor's line and keep a tally of 'wins' and 'losses' throughout the day. Rahil enjoyed it tremendously. Who wouldn't? Thank goodness Charlie Brown wasn't here; it wasn't uncommon to see trees with ten, twenty, or thirty kites gobbled up.
Other highlights included trips to Adalaj, a five-story step well, and to Sabarmati Ashram, where Gandhi stayed for 13 years; there Rahil spun cotton thread just like Gandhi did.
