Editor of (among others) a long-running (1942 - 1971) annual series entitled 'Best Cartoons of the Year' and a decent cartoonist in his own right. Lariar also published several mystery novels.

A couple notes about the 'Best Cartoons of the Year' series for you collectors. Although not yet impossible to find, the 1942 edition is becoming increasingly scarce, particularly in decent condition. It was published with at least two different board covers (red and yellow). The dust jacket (pictured below) is virtually impossible to find; if you see one, grab it. And don't spend time looking for 'The Best Cartoons of the Year 1961' -- there wasn't one for that year. (Instead, the publisher put out a volume entitled 'The Best of the Best Cartoons of the Year.')
