I always thought it was pretty sleazy to use the comics pages to push a personal agenda, especially a "culturally transmitted mental virus" as Stefan Molyneux of freedomainradio.com calls it.

Sure, it was easy enough to ignore the strip but it took space that could have been used for a better strip (a funny one, maybe?)

He looks like he was a nice enough guy. Unfortunately the practice of using a platform to push an unrelated agenda seems to be spreading. Oh well.

Oops. I made a mistake on my previous comment. It is in the Toronto Star I occasionally read Johnny Hart's cartoons, whenever they give me a free sample copy.

I've enjoyed johnny hart's "B.C" comic strips for a number of years in the Peterborough Examiner, albeit it carries only the color weekend release. I suppose not everybody's gonna agree with some of his Christian views but then Jesus said, we might sometimes be "hated for His name's sake". Keep up the good work Johnny. One need only look at how Hart transforms a menorrah into a cross or his cartoon in early July 2006 when eh linked all Muslims with violence and labeled them as lunatics to see that Johnny Hart has become increasingly intolerent of others. To promote Christianity is one thing. To belittle other faiths is racist, pure and simple

I remember his earlier stuff and there was no sign of him being religious. Then suddenly B.C became a hotbed of religious ferver. I think he "found" religion and that ruined his work for good, in my opinion.

I'm biased since I used to know Mr. Hart personally. He is a very religious man, and there really is no issue there. But racist?? He has used characters that are identifiably Italian and American Indian, but that doesn't make him racist. Those characters typically point out foibles associated with our primarily northern European heritage. They're stereotyped to be sure, but many cartoon characters are. As far as being funny, that's a matter of taste. Some of his strips are great, others not so good. If you don't like B.C., don't read it.
