Jim Stevens - Eric was my Uncle. I'm not sure about getting the rights for publishing but you may want to start with his son, Lance Gurney. I know he's on facebook...

Eric was my mother (Nancy McCarthy, will be 91 this Dec/2014)cousin. My mom and dad visited with Eric and Nancy quite often and always came home with new stories and personalized artwork. He personalize the King, Mice and Cheese for me which I still have and cherish. Wonderful sence of humor....like his mother. As a child we used to see his father quite often and called him Uncle Owen. He was a lovely, kind gentleman who was also an accomplished artist. Good memories. Kim McCarthy

I am seeking permission to reprint one of Eric Gurney's illustrations he did for Popular Mechanics in an upcoming textbook I am writing. The publisher of the magazine can only grant me permission for the whole page, not just the illustration. Does anyone know who owns the rights to his illustrations? It is for a short run architecture textbook. Any help would be appreciated.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Eric, but Nancy is a true gem. I house sitted for her in Arizona in the 1990's and was one of the last people to say goodbye to Max, her dog. Nancy if you see this thank you for your friendship and I'm sorry for the passing of your friend Bil Keane. The Family Circus is my favorite comic and The Digging-est Dog will always be my favorite children's book.

unfortunately, eric has passed away, but nancy lives on at the retired living center at which i work! she is sweet and creative, and has given me great advice as a artist in training!

My family lived in Westport and was neighbors with the Gurneys from 1967- to whenever Eric and Nancy#2 moved. I have several books that Eric personalized just for me, 'The King and the Mice and the Cheese' is my favorite. I have many fun memories of Eric and Nancy#1 and when their grandsons Gardner & Graham would visit them, I was always at their house and treated like another grandchild. Thank you, Samantha Lowry

I have many books, post cards of Eric Gurneys. I was 8 in 1980 when may Grandmother and I flew done to Arizona from Winnipeg to stay with Uncle Eric. He signed and sent many books to me and wrote letters on the inside of the cover of his books. Nancy painted a painting of me when I was there and is signed by her as well. I have a copy of How to live with a calculating cat. I am not sure when it was published, but we came accross it when we were clearing out my nans flat after she passed away. I am loathed to sell it, and wondered if there were any collectors that might be interested in the book? It looks quite old, and was published by 'A Four Square Book'. Would love to hear from you...my emai address is charlotte@parkwoodview.co.uk. It is a great book, so I want it to be had by someone who will cherish it as my nan did. Thanks Charlotte

Hey, just wanted to let you know that I think it's cool that you have a page displaying my stepgrandfather's work (he was married to my grandmother when he passed). We have a bunch of this original works from Bambi hanging up at our house. He was a really cool guy; he painted his cartoons animals all over the back of the bathroom door at my grandmother's house in AZ (it's so "him").
