As I type this in my office in Washington DC I am looking at two original David Langdon cartoons that I was lucky enough to buy from the man himself at a small exhibition of his work in London around 1965 before I moved to the states. They have hung on my many different office walls ever since. They are great to have and a wonderful reminder of England.

Ruby, I have learned that your grandfather was the very popular Bar Officer at Bonnington's - the Officers' Mess at RAF Hunsdon in 1942-43. I would love to get a message to him if it were possible. I am a historian researching my mother's early life when she was married to an airman called John Bicknell, who was stationed at Hunsdon and was such a colourful character ( eating beer glasses having consumed his pint for instance !) that your grandfather would remember him. Could you ask him on my behalf if he remebers John Bicknell, please ?

I AM A BOOK DEALER AND HAVE JUST ACQUIRED A SIGNED COPY OF HOME FRONT LINES - I HAVE HAD MUCH ENJOYMENT FROM LOOKING CAREFULLY AT THE CARTOONS - HE WAS UNKNOWN TO ME BEFORE!
