After exploring the hotel (the Jehan Numa), Rahil sought out the expansive Museum of Man, visiting the interior galleries when it was raining and the outdoor habitat exhibits when it wasn't. Then came the highlight of the Bhopal trip (at least to his Dad's mind): a visit to Sanchi, a world heritage site featuring a Great Stupa built by Ashoka in the 3rd century BC and improved upon since then. (Click here for the wikipedia entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanchi ). Its four gates were magnificent.
On the way back to Bhopal, Rahil's Dad stopped at the spot where the Tropic of Cancer crossed the road. Once in Bhopal, Rahil paid his respects at the site of the Union Carbide disaster, where untold thousands still suffer from after-effects twenty-five years later. Shame!
After another lovely dinner, Rahil flew back to Delhi, arriving home at midnight.
