09/12/2011 - IMG_1639.jpg

The weekly, sometimes twice-a-week, transition.

Cutting the lawn is something I don't like to do. We have a relatively small lawn area
that I can cut in about 45 minutes. I can't understand those who live in rural areas
and have wall-to-wall grass. It is one of the least beneficial plantings to wildlife.

nice shot.. I have all dirt so far, don't think I can afford grass!

beautiful transition in green

I agree I cut sometimes but try to go as long as I can and it has been hot with no rain so not much cutting needed.

I agree! Would suit me fine to have a yard filled with wild flowers & trees! No grass allowed ;) Maybe a few dandelions.. Nice light & shadows, Carl!

I have a small yard but it is all brown now due to not being able to water our yard because of major water restrictions. But, I enjoy mowing it...takes me 10 minutes out front and maybe 15 out back. :) Your yard looks good!

Nice job and capture of the curving lines. V

When you have wildfires, the lawn will protect you. Having other kinds of vegetation around the home just gives fuel for the fire. Love your lawn photo. Good idea for transition.

Lovely curves leading me into the image!!

Lovely gentle curve, perfectly composed...and perfectly cut too!!

My lawn has been turning to moss for a while now. You don't have to cut moss and it is green.
We have acreage and that gets done with the ridem, or in the past, sheep.
Rains coming soon and so will go back to mowing.

Almost the end of mowing here. Probably in mid October the grass will stop growing for the year, A beauty of a lawn!

Such great lawn!

It is a drudgery but it has to be done... :)

Well seen.

My husband and sons always did our lawns... Now we have a 'lawn-mower man' come every 3 weeks. He's quick and on some of the lawn all he uses is a weed cutter... Never cuts as well as the family did...

But those riding mowers are sooo much fun to ride...ha ha. I get the sense your lawn is still bigger than mine. It takes me about 10-30 minutes to mow with one of those old fashioned gas free push mowers. It all depends on the length. Unfortunately the kids aren't strong enough to push it for me yet. ha ha

I've a heard that a quarter of metro Denver's water usage (for instance) goes to watering lawns. Now I believe that figure was 15-20 years ago so I bet it's worse now.

back to the photo. Great shot. You captured the patterns really well. V

I totally agree. I have no lawn. We have grass here and there and when it rains. Max always finds the errant clump of grass. Especially in the desert, a lawn makes no sense. I have enough work just keeping the weeds down. That said, your lawn shot makes for a really nice shot.
