Hi Tina,
This is a Lycaenid butterfly. I believe it is the Arophala pseudocentaurus aglais, endemic. Was it in Makiling you photographed this butterfly? There was a time when hundreds of them can be seen by the stairs at the Botanic garden close to the office. They cleared the undergrowth there. I don't see them anymore. There are some by the Flat rocks. The only time I see the Arophala open its wing is when it is in flight. The irridescent purple upperside gives its flight a different glow.
