Lovely abstract water lily Victor. Interesting - I think I'd like to try something like this even though I don't have a water bell, I think I might be able to find something that will work to create this beautiful effect. CJ

Lydia, I guess you didn't read the comment attached to the picture. Yes, this is a water lily. It is actually in perfect focus. I made sure the lens was focused exactly at the distance of the flower and then dialed in the smallest aperture just to ensure it, since this is really a macro. The blurred look is because the point of view is looking THROUGH a bell of water. Seehttp://www.fountainkinetics.com/examples/examples.html for an example of a water bell. The center of the water bell is on the right. The diagonal patterns going from upper right to lower left are parallel to the flow of the water. The white at lower right is specular reflections on the water bell. The pink at upper left is another water lily and is out of focus despite the aperture. The green, of course, is lily pads.

This is pushing the envelope, agree with Lydia... bit more focus will have great impact...I think. -RK

It wasn't the DOF... but the lack of focus. Getting further away from it makes the subject more clear, at least I think it does. Is it a waterlily?? ~Lydia

Thanks. I don't know if you noticed the EXIF, but this was taken at f/32 to maximize the depth of field. For obvious reasons, I wasn't worried about diffraction. Shooting at f/32 made me realize it's time for a sensor cleaning. I spent a lot of time with the healing brush on this picture, but only for dust. -- Victor

I think this probably works better either really large on a wall, or as a thumbnail. I really like the colors. It's a beautiful abstract, Victor. ~Lydia
