Trav, This particular "tree" is on the path from the bottom to the summit of Stone Mountain. It is actually a utility pole of some sort. The hike from bottom to top is about 1/2 mile but it is 800 feet up. It's great exercise. Well I guess that someone decided to stick their gum to the pole, er tree, and many others followed suit. Some of that gum is years old. There is a second gum "tree" about another 50 yards up the path but no others on the mountain.

What the hell and why, I guess...What's the story behind this...tree and the gum? It has got to be interesting. Traveller
