The Candidate
by Mary Anne

I'm not trying to make a political statement here...haven't even decided who I'm going to vote for. But this was the first Presidential candidate to come through here, and a woman at that. For me, that's a piece of history. Plus, this tall guy in front of me kept holding his camera up each time I tried to take a shot, so I decided to just make him a part of the picture. I was pleased with the OOF background. If the image is deemed out of place, I'll happily remove it.

Thanks, Cindy. I checked out that discussion thread, and some of those folks seem more interested in put-downs rather than campaign photos. It started as an interesting idea but wandered off in a different direction.

Excellent. Great capture. -Najinsky

PS: Vote Homer Simpson - If your county is going down the tubes, may as well have a laugh during the ride. Oops, gotta run....

This is a great shot! I would have liked it better with just hands holding the little cam and not a bald head too . . . but you can't pose something like this so understandable.

As to Lydia's comment . . . lol . . . Gawd I hope PMS isn't a factor at 60! Or does it just become permanent at menopause???? Seems like that might be the case with this candidate . . .lol. As to blowing up countries . . . yeah, it would be hard for any female to match the nonviolent record of all the peaceful males that have been in charge of countries since they were invented . . .;).

You took advantage of a great opportunity. Nice image -- AussieDawg

This is one great catch, Mary Anne (especially the bald head ha ha ha). And it's not out of place at all - just current.

Of course it's fine to leave it in. Don't be silly. ~ Lonnit

You'll notice that I'm staying out of this whole discussion. Trying to learn sometimes to simply say, "Don't get me started!" BTW I had to tone his head down a bit...the reflections from the overhead lights were just too glaring. I gather it's OK to leave this one in.

Ok... I just try to speak my mind... whatever it is... I'm pretty smart and pretty good in a crisis... but I'm not wired to be President. Somethings are just better left unsaid though... *smile* I do like the shot. And I said that, too. *grin* ~Lydia

Good eye to see and capture this image, fun stuff. (My brain is trying very hard to pretend I never saw Lydia's comment down below...tryingtryingtrying...) --mlynn

I wouldn't touch any of those comments with a ten foot exit poll. But really, this is an excellent photo. I particularly like the guy's head-reflections and the shallow DOF is great. It's a perfect use of this aspect ratio too! Jim H.

OH my Lord, Lydia - I CANNOT BELIEVE you said that! Whoa, was that flame bait! You'd better run for cover! LOL! For the record, she's got my vote and the image is nice too. :) Too bad you couldn't get his camera to reflect into his bald head! LOL! ~ Lonnit

Very creative photo, Mary Anne. I don't think it's out of place here. I won't vote for her (too afraid that every month she'll have PMS and blow up a country! *wink* I don't think women are wired for that kind of job. Call me a female chauvinist pig. *sigh*), but I like the photo very much. ~Lydia
