Markjay, if you go to http://www.pbase.com/watch_the_birdie/watch_the_birdie you will see that I am a long-time friend of the scanner. Julie

I like prefer this shot over your other "cd scanner" shot, Julie. The use of the jewelry was really a creative touch. I suspect you'll become VERY good friends with your scanner now :-) Markjay

Another lovely image with the scanner Julie, and it does have a festive feel to it! CJ

Thanks Micharl and Melbob. It has the feeling of celebration for the 100th, I thought. Julie

The crystals add substantially to the overall composition, well done. -Michael

Brilliant Julie, the crystals contribute to the 'spacial' feel of this image. Love the colour from that CD/DVD disc. ~ Regards Melbob

Jim, the sparkly bits are the remains of a crystal necklace which broke many years ago. To achieve the black background, I place a black box over what is on the platen. Then reduce the brightnes and increase the contrast, despeckle and clone out the inevitable dust spots. Julie

I really love the colors in this one. What are the "jewels" in this shot? What did you use as a background (or was it just open?). Excellent. This "Open" theme and not forcing us to use our regular cameras is paying off! Jim H.

Thanks Nico. Hope you continue to try with your scanning. Lowering the brightness and upping the contrast helps. Julie

You make it look easy, Julie. Somehow my scanner is far less cooperative... or perhaps it has to do with an amateurish operator? :-) Excellent "photograph" - similar to your most impressive PBase Gallery, this is really high quality work. Regards jnconradie
