Thanks, Nico. I had been contemplating a certain noise reduction filter for some time. On the strength of your suggestion, and after seeing your version in Pending, I bought the plug-in this morning. I used it on this image, and I must agree that it significantly improves the appearance. I deleted the version you put into Pending, as it is no longer needed.

I could not resist the temptation to mess around a little to see if one could get some of noise reduced. My attempt is posted in pending, but I this is done with the clear understanding that you ignore that version with pleasure. No offense will be taken.
