Beautiful shot. The rich colors remind me of your top ranking picture in the "Good Vibrations" challenge. ~ Larry

Old violins have always fascinated me. Well, especially since my younger son studied the violin for 12 years. This particular one is my favorite because it has "reversed perfiling" (a narrow structural and decorative wooden strip inlaid on violins). Alas, this instrument is not playable. It is missing it's post, bridge, strings and is in need of repair.

The object in the background is indeed a violin makers form for shaping the sides of a violin. My sister found that for me in a flea market.

I'm glad you enjoyed this shot!

Love those rich tones and the beautiful lighting on this Pops. I can just about hear the wonderful tones of this in an audio sense as well.

One just has to be in awe of the incredible workmanship that keeps them together for such a long time. What a wonderful and very valuable prop... Pops?

I'm intrigued by the background object... it that a 'mould/form tool' for shaping the violin? ~ Regards Melbob

Great one!
I am glad that you could revist this subject. The violin itself is a piece of art. And your photo does justice to it!

Most violins made since the days of Stradivari have been made in his style. No, this is not a Stradivari. I believe that it is 18th century French. More than that I cannot say.

Yes, Michael, it is me playing (pun intended!) with some favorite props.

Gorgeous and rich tones with a pleasing composition. I'm going to guess Pops as I fondly remember his Quartet from an earlier challenge. -Michael

This is not really a Stradivari is it? Rather more in the style of...but I am getting a sense that old fashioned colors and art are just more pleasing to view...not necessarily better, just more gentle on the eyes. This is nice...and kind of takes Art out into the Woodworking realm.

Warm and lovely image.

Best Wishes,
