Shu, this is a wonderful image and your processing is very skillful. I can only guess about the original image but suspect that it might lend itself nicely to a variety of styles. While you've taken it in a very painterly direction for this challenge, I'm thinking it might also make a dynamite b&w image. Just musing. -Michael

Shu: just to avoid any misunderstanding: I did not at all say it was a bad image. I just said it’s—in my book—no longer a photograph (and I’m interested in photography in a more classical sense of the word), while Traveller’s idea of this challenge was, obviously, much wider... I’m glad you can accept my opinion; but it’s just that: an opinion. ;-) — db.

Hi shu, "detective work" is probably an overstatement. More coincidence. You are marked in PBase as one of my favourite photographers; when I opended that page, your photograph entitled, "cell" showed up seeing that it is your "most recent" post to PBase, I guess. "cell" looked rather nicely art-like and made me explore a little further... and "strolling" was not too far away. Hope that explanation makes sense. Regards jnconradie

Thanks! I appreciate Daniel's POV regarding PP. I love to experiment with it which, at times, adds more creativity to my images but there's fine line between PP in good taste and just plain too much PP and, frankly, I cannot seem to walk that fine line. I do find that if I put an image aside for a period of time, I can determine whether there has been too much PP. What I like about this challenge is that not knowing the photographer, the members are more likely to be straightforward with their comments both pro and con. As much as I wince when someone may not like my style, I believe I learn from their comments and, of course, there is always the choice to remain true to one's original idea. I, personally, marvel at images turned in to fine art and with great PS CS tools, one can really explore the possibilities. My learning skills have faded over the years and I still remain frustrated with many aspects of PS but plan to keep trying to gather up more tools in order to create those enhanced images I admire. shu

BTW, what "detective" work was done to reveal my identity? Just curious. Thank you all for your critiques!!

A little pbase detective work... and now I know whom to congratulate: it's a "shu" ! - but quite unlike the other "shu's" I am used to. I think the painter's style has been really nicely applied here, in my opinion. Compliments and regards jnconradie

No, it’s not me, sorry!, and couldn’t possibly be: here is—to my eye—much too much post-processing in this image for it to be called a photograph. But that is, of course, just my very personal opinion. And you, Traveller, asked for things like this in your initial description of the challenge... so the author might have done well doing what he did? — db.
