Thanks Markjay, participating in the challenges has helped, trying to learn from the talented folks here. The yellow flower is actually part of a bush which in the spring sprouts such "flowers" which die off in the summer. I totally agree with your opinion that the bird is too centered and I did try different crops, but as he was properly in focus in this one, I prefered to crop in close, hence the frame to break the boredom :) So much still to learn in bird photography (sigh)

Juli... the more images you post here, the more I watch with interest as your photography improves and blossoms. This image is a bit unusual since I'ver personally never seen a hummingbird resting on one of those (?) flowers. IMO, the frame is taking away from your beautiful image and the subject is abit too centered for my own personal taste. No matter, a beautiful image. Markjay

Thaks Ann, Tel Aviv Israel. We have very diverse landscape, from dessert to mountains in a small geographical area, but you still have to get lucky to catch them when they are sitting still, they are very small and very jumpy! Judi

Wonderful color. Where do you live? We don't see hummers like this here in the Pacific Northwest. Ann C

Thanks Nico and Traveller. Traveller, thank you for your kind words. Even though I haven't joined in the discussion I have been following with great interest your forays into PS - boy can I relate to your words, but the journey is fun, much more than if it would come to us easily! Judi

Thanks,Sharon & Judi. Its a male hummingbird. We have quite a few around these parts, but they all tend to be either black/blue/turquoise or black/blue/purple. We don't get the lighter colors that I've seen photographed on the dpr forums. JudiB

Beautiful Judi. Is this a sunbird? He looks wonderful with the yellow flower.
