This is an outstanding shot, IMO! The color, composition and even a touch of humor all come together for one great challenge entry!! Good luck! shu

Now that you've alluded to them, may we see a link to the other pictures of this photo shoot? -- Victor

Thanks Markjay!
I see your point but actually both the slanting window line and small white triangle in the lower right where left on purpose.
If you examine the windows shape (which are oval) you'll see that the format distortion is in accordance with the slanting window line.
If you look carefully, you can even see a small trim line on the fuselage, in the lower half of the image, that is also in accordance with the perspective. One thing that may fool the viewer is the way my colleague head is placed in the window.
Although it looks like her face is in a perpendicular plane to the window (...because it is, in fact more or less, perpendicular to the sensor plane) she is actually looking sideways.
It works as an optical illusion, I guess.

As for the lower triangle I feel it better portrays the actual livery, although I do agree that, as most of the viewers are not familiar with it anyway, it would probably work better if it was cloned out, reinforcing the already strong color graphic elements.

Thanks for the in-depth comment!

Great shot, Photokan! The repeating windows draw the eye across the image to the face. If you woulnd't mind, I would like to add a thought on the image...
A slight rotation, moving the right side up a tad would bring the windows a horizontal leveling and, cloning out the bottom right hand white stripe REALLY strengthens your image visually but the image does work quite well as it is. Put your hand over the white right hand stripe and see for yourself if you agree? Thanks for sharing this!

Alexig, do you know what ALITALIA stands for? 'Always Late In Takeoff Always Late In Arrival' LOL. Sam Attal.

Nice colors and composition. As opposed to Sam I have the most fond memories of Alitalia (except when the plane was returned back to Fiumicino after ten minutes flight due to pressurization problem).

Thanks guys!
JR, answering your question, this is not a setup shot.
I took my 30D with me in that trip to Milan already with an intent to shoot some pictures of the plane’s windows and also of some grouped aircraft tails in Malpensa tarmac.
Unfortunately, it was already too late and quite foggy to take any useful shots of other aircrafts over there, so I started my plane in transit walk around check and the refueling armed with the camera and looking for some good angles to register the window rows.
It just happened that one of our flight assistants came to the window to check out what was going on with all the flash firing (…hence the title).
Strictly speaking, this may not be a candid shoot, since it is not the first one taken. Once I saw the shot potential, I signaled her to stay there and took a series of pictures.
Actually, I found the effect so great that I then proceeded to have more of them lined up in the windows fore some more, really funny, shoots.
These turned out also great but I elected to use this one, as the “impromptu factor" is more within the spirit of the challenge.
As for the “airplanes-as-a-theme”, although I do find aviation to be a great harvest field for photography, I frequently resort to it for these challenges more out of necessity, than as an option.
You see, I don’t have that much off time in my hands, so I try to carry my camera along in some flights and find something suitable for the challenge themes.
Don’t think I have unlimited access to subjects, though…I make a point of only shooting my plane or the odd one taxiing or landing nearby.
although I am an airline Captain, I would most surely be intercepted an questioned by airport authorities, if I was not sensible about the way I photograph in their turf. For instance, I avoid shooting altogether in such sensible countries as the UK and France.

Nicely done. I would be most interested in hearing from you whether you had pre-arranged with her to collaborate, or whether she just happended to be glancing through the window at that time? Not that it really matters or course, I am just being "nosy". :-) I guess you are pilot (or something similar) and thus able to take shots of planes from what appears to be very close up. I can see myself being arrested on the spot I were to try doing something like this at any of our airports! :-) :-) Compliments and regards ~jnconradie

Very nice image; although it bring ALITALIA to memory, an airline that I will never fly again (unless I am desperate, of course). Sam Attal.

Yes, repetition and a suprising break. It has a wry sense of humor about it. -- Bruce

I like this a lot PK. Nice color, curving lines, and all important repetition. Like the title too :-)
