Thank you so much, Michael. :) I was a huge fan of the books as a child. I've got them for my kids now but they don't care much for them. Guess I'll just have to satisfy my Pooh urge this way. :) ~ Lonnit

Very reminiscent of Ernest Shepard's illustrations for Winnie the Pooh...which is meant as a compliment because I feel those illustrations are some of the greatest ever produced. This image speaks to me on so many levels, so I'll simply say it's perfection for me. -Michael

Thank, CJ. As for processing, I just tweaked it a bit to bring out the sky details, and yes, I did move her and the dog, as a unit, back a few feet from the tree. But the original image was in full black silhouette as you see here - I did nothing in PS to turn this into a silhouette, I shot it as such. :) ~ Lonnit

I love this silhouette Lonnit! The tree frames the woman and dog beautifully and with the processing, it does look as if it could be in a book. Nice! CJ

Thanks Lee. Now you can see why I was so excited to find the location. Such a fantastic point of view - they all just parade by for me. It's like ducks in the old shooting galleries! LOL! ~ Lonnit

Stunning! Looks like you found a great spot to take pictures. Like the rest of your Flickr shots also.

They do have a pretty different feel, considering there's so much alike about them. This one's so mellow, the other is more energetic. My personal favorite is the walker. ~ Lonnit

This is pretty cool too, but I like one with the walker better

Aam - yes, I agree with popping them more. I did it differently though, b/c I felt the sky was too ominous. Instead, I used a curves adjustment in normal mode, along with a levels adjustment in darken mode, then grouped the two adjustment layers together and decreased the opacity. This gave the additional contrast without altering the color of the sky, which, with just a levels adjustment, was bringing it more towards blue, losing the cyan. I preferred doing it this way to keep the more light-hearted, storybook feel. But it was an excellent suggestion b/c it pointed me in the right direction. Thanks!

I also want to say that I appreciate the respect you showed by offering it privately. Consider your hand shaken. :) ~ Lonnit

Wow, Techo! Thanks. :)

Aam, I did lighten it up a bit and resaturated it.

Autumn Sky, then that is amazing that two people said the same specific thing. You know, I'm thinking maybe you both were getting a Christopher Robin vibe from this. This older woman could easily be a young Christopher Robin with the haircut and shorts, and would be walking along holding Pooh Bear by the hand, similar to this dog on a leash. Thinking back, I do believe they even used such silhouettes in the illustrations. That must be the link. Were you an AA Milne fan as a child? I was. ~ Lonnit

Howdy :)
I can easily say this photo is one of my favorites of all the pics you've posted here. You've posted many great shots so I'm trying to think back a bit, and yes this one surely makes the top3 list of the best shots you've ever posted.
Love it!

I have a question Lonnit, if you don't mind. For such an exposure one would expect a slightly deeper colored/exposed sky, yet I'm not seeing it here. Care to enlighten us on that part. Thanks.

Thanks. I was like a kid in a candy store this morning here. I went to the park b/c I've been seeing the people walking in the morning and I just had to go back and shoot. I got the shot of people on the bench (http://www.pbase.com/lonnit/image/29085721 ) at this same park, and it's one of my personal favorites. I love that I can stand at sidewalk height and the people walk by on a path, up the hill, with their feet at my eye level, giving those fantastic sky backgrounds. I took so many shots. There may even be better ones than this, but this was the only one I've processed so far. I've got singles and couples and joggers and walkers of all shapes and sizes... it was a feast!

I will confess, that after dozens of different crops, I did end up picking up the pair of them and sliding them away from the tree. The previous frames had them where I really wanted them, but the leg position was so much better in this one, and I liked the dog's pose in this one better as well. So, I selected them, slid them back and repaired the sky & grass. With all the croping variations and comparing and selecting, and tweaking and recompairing, I spent hours on this thing! I almost made a composition of a dozen different crops b/c I couldn't decide which one to use. But finally, I narrowed it down to this and one other. I can't wait to work the other pix. I'll have to open a whole new gallery section for silhouettes! LOL! ~ Lonnit

Thanks, LC. Ok, this is weird - I got the same comment on Flickr. Was it you that also wrote there "Love it. Has a story book quality to it. Fantastic."? Thanks for commenting. :) ~ Lonnit

I absolutely love this shot. Like an image out of a short story book. It lets the imagination wander. Nice to see a silhouette that is not oversharpened, just tack sharp. My compliments. -- LC
