Navajo Drum - The deer is a sacred animal and the Deer Dance honors the animal spirit and symbolizes the connection and balance between man and animal.
Thanks for the input Lonnit! There are a few other reasons the corners aren't looking like perfect squares: this is hand-made and the frame is not perfect and also this is lit from the side which makes the right side appear a little larger than it actually is, but I'll see if I can improve the image a little. :-) CJ
Yes, that's a very cool effect that I didn't catch the first time. When your sensor plane is parallel to your subject plane, your corner squares will become identical as well - right now the angle makes them all different rectangles; squaring will make them all squares. Thanks for pointing them out! I have to say again, I just love, love, love those colors. :) ~ Lonnit
That's an interesting thought Lonnit - I'll try it. I kinda liked the way the black background and the design in the drum combined to made additional squares in the corners of the image. :-) CJ
Nice shot. I would have preferred if the subject plane was parallel to the sensor plane. Perhaps a quarter turn of rotation would make it more comfortable? Beautiful colors. Excellent subject. Works well with the square format. ~ Lonnit
Thanks Sharon! I liked the geometric look of the drum in the square format and the soft tones of the hide with the contrasting dark images of the deer design. :-) CJ
