Elaborate

Australia

If you've ever seen a Chinese opera, you'll understand the extremes. Extremely elaborate, extremely boring and extremely hard on the ears. And the one on the right is a bloke. I think that's pretty extreme!

I like this composition, very RED, stands out like a beacon in this gallery. Make a great tapestry or post card or playing cards etc. ~ Bob

Before reading your explanation, I was not sure that I could see the connection to the topic. Now it is xceedingly (!) clear. Thanks for sharing. ~jnconradie

It's the contrast between the ancient and very traditional Chinese Opera and the new world current technology of the microphones that I find "Xtreme." Nice capture, Gayle.

LMAO! Not much of an attempt at defending it! LOL! I'm thinking Bigma for shooting if I ever come across it! LOL! ~ Lonnit

Lonnit, it was part of a Chinese Hawkers festival we attended in Melbourne earlier this year. Fortunately, it was held outdoors on a tented stage so we weren't a captive audience. It's very, very beautiful to watch but the singing sounds like cats in heat.

Very nice. I love the makeup - makes the whole thing look like an art print. What the heck were you doing at a Chinese opera? Doesn't sound like it would be something you'd choose to do based on your discription! LOL! ~ Lonnit
