Three*pose

Maribyrnong River Valley

Candid shot at shopping centre pet shop.
Through several layers of greasy glass and no flash of course.
I think this is a classic case of shallow DOF with the 5Ds' FF
I expect the 20D might have given a little more DOF to bring in to focus the second kitten perhaps?

Actually, I rather like the way the girl is out of focus. It helps to show that she's on the outside and the kittens are on the inside. Her glance shows an emotional connection, that unbeknownst to the kittens could turn into something more. Besides, more depth of field would have introduced more clutter from the background. -- Victor

Thanks Michael, yes it is most frustrating, had to use ISO1600 and open it up to 3.5 to stop the girl's movement. Couldn't use flash, perhaps I could have cribbed one more stop and focussed a little further in to better capture the kittens. But... you only gits one go unfortunately. Regards Bob

Well, this is totally charming...kittens curled up together and that lovely smile. (*) Would have been nice to have just a little more DOF so that all the kittens were sharp and the girl's face soft, but I know that's really hard to pull off on the fly. -Michael
