"Portraiture is not my thing." --Mr. Biscuit

P.S. Striking, intriguing, dramatic. Only constructive thought: A bit more shoulder in-frame would have emphasized the over-the-shoulder, "oh, you again" look. But superb as is. And no, you will never out-live those words.

I like this one more from the two

Cheers, Vikas.

I knew you were a southpaw. I thought I saw your reflection in your daughter's eye. It looks like the camera is right in the middle if her pupil and your face just to the righ (as we view the picture). Apparently that was an optical illusion. -- Victor

Victor, none of the above. I'm right eyed (left handed though), shot was handheld and aside from mono conversion, it's as it came out of the camera. Not even cropped. Why?
Canon DSLR Challenge18-Apr-2006 02:12
Gayle,

I have a question for you. Are you left eyed? Or is this picture mirrored? Or was the camera tripod mounted and you weren't even looking through the viewfinder? I've gotta believe one of these is right. -- Victor

well done Gayle.

I think I agree with Lonnit. Additionally, I'd like to se more detail on the cheek. Not much more, but a little. -- Victor

Absolutely wonderful! Love the '40s starlet look. One thing that bugs me a bit though, is that the rim of the hat goes from OOF to sharp to OOF. I think I'd like the DOF to be the slightest bit deeper so the edge of the rim is still sharp and the shoulder is very slightly less OOF, but of course, still, most definitely OOF. Stunning image! ~ Lonnit

This is wonderful. I love the "old-fashioned" look. It reminds me of a beautiful movie star from the early days of film. And that eye - staring right at me from the shade of the hat. Perfect angles too :) Jim H.

Great tones, composition and depth of field. One of the best portraits I've seen on PBase.

Dear Gayle: As I commented to Rishard in the Main Thread:

Dear Richard:

There are tons on angles in your, Busy...lol. Truly, I like it, and it is very welcome that you are participating again. Still, I wonder how it would look in B&W?

More to my original point, I think that there is a lot happening in Gayle's Jaunty Angle also. Very fine detail on the hat, the iris of the eyes, the texture of the lips. Truly, a superior Portrait! Excellent work by both of you.
Best Wishes,

Traveller
