Dark Fire*

I spent a few hours playing with the light coming off this bowl. The color, at least, is exactly what I was going for and I'm happy to say that I didn't have to enhance it much at all in PP. I'd love some tips on how to improve on it, as this is my first CSLR entry.

Canon EOS 10D ,Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II
30s f/13.0 at 50.0mm iso100 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

Since you asked, I'll comment. I really don't care for the way the bowl seems to be floating in mid-air, or lying on its side - which is more likely. LOL! I don't like that the rays are cut off at the bottom. The sides could have been cropped in tighter. The rays are much more interesting than the bowl I really don't care for the bowl and don't like the way the front spikes look chopped off. I would have just preferred the rays, cropped tightly, no bowl. I wouldn't have shredded this much if you hadn't asked, but since you did, I am happy to comply with an honest critique. I too like my comments direct to the point. :) ~ Lonnit

Believe it or not, this is shot 35 out of 40 or so. I liked the interplay of smooth and rough textures enough that I can't see the shot without both elements in play.

Dear Jason: The image looks fine as is and for what it is. It is an interesting first effort. How to make it better? And I'm not being flip here...take another picture....and another and another and...have fun. That's all there is to it...however, as I look at this again, maybe crop out the entire bowl, leving only the lit fabric? Best Wishes, Traveller
