Thanks, Chris! It is actually a pun, the tie (the rope) is dyed by the rust from the shackle and the green from the seaweed. I think the rope is actually incidental to the picture because, as you say, the colors are the stars of the shot. The rope simply serves to "tie" the two halves of the image together with the twig in the seaweed, top right, serving to bring your eye back around to the back of the boat. ~Sharon

I love the colors on this one, they are really the star of this image. It is interesting that even though the rope is tie-dyed, I am drawn to the red/orange in the rope, and the blue and green on the left and right, it was only after looking at the image several times, and writing this that I realized the the rope itself is 'tie-dyed'. I think this is because I always go to the rusted element and where the rope meets.

If the intent was to highlight the fact that the rope is tie-dyed then I would say that it is a little overwhelmed by the other elements, and strong colors of the image.

All said, this image is very appealing to me, becuase of thos colors.
