Very interesting and cool use of the shallow DOF. Though to make the DOF more uniform, I would also selectivly blur the in focus portion of the petal that's in the left hand side of the photo.

Gorgeous colors and patterns dorys, kind of 3D. --Melanie (mlynn)

thank you Traveller. I think the biggest nitpick i have of it myself is that the upper most right and left stamens are not equal in distance from the top of the photo. it's been bugging me and now i feel the need to rotate just a bit to the left to square it off. :-)

I agree with odigi, a very large print on someones wall. I...like this, of course, but its abstract nature might be hurt by more DOF...the colors are surreal, and it is the golden staymen (sp?), in focus on top but fading to indistinction, plus the same happening on the center of the image that makes this so effective.

In my humble opinion. I like this a lot. Traveller

Thank you Cindy and Nancy. I agree on the DOF. I may re-shoot this with a different lens to get more DOF if i find some time. the dof on this lens is razor thin. dorys

I think one of the more patternesque shots so far. When I opened it I thought - looks at that cool pattern, and its in layers!, not - oh - that's a cool _________ and it has a neat pattern too - If that makes sense. Would have liked to see a little more DOF - but I know that is a tough one! Cindy

I bet this image would look darned good in a large format on someone's wall. I like it a lot-- very nice, Dorys. --Nancy/odigi
