Early Morning * by :-D

Boston, MA.

Was waiting in the airport terminal early in the morning, when I itched to take a photo...my camera in my bag, was going to take a photo of the travellers sleeping in the terminal, when I spotted this lonely chair, and the interesting lighting and background, and couldn't resist looking like an airport nut job...

Very beautiful. I love that lighting! --Melanie

I find the upper right window to be distracting. I tried a simple test by scrolling the picture in my browser to hide and show the right window... to me the picture sans the right window is definitely more appealing.
But, thats a minor nit-pik. I like this image for its symmetry and colors.

I disagree about the upper right window. I think it complements the image. The cool color is repeated in the aluminum parts of the seats and complements the warm tone of most of the rest of the image. Great shot! --Olaf.dk

Markjay...Thanks for the comment and compliment...I also dislike the top right window...I tried "zoning" the detail in the grey down...but it looked fabricated...I never thought to do a clone of the light...since my P/S skills are really, really poor most of the time ;-), and the less editing imho the better it usually comes out....I'll try it out and if it works...I'll post an update...on that note I think the assymetry in the window lighting somewhat compliments the shape of the chairs...but that might not be true...I had to crop the image a slight bit to reduce the size of thegrey window to a small enough patch...

Thanks for the comments Mark and Cindy...I do appreciate them...and Lonnit, your comment has made me feel like a winner all week...so many thanks.

Might be the ONLY airport seating image I'll ever compliment :-) but, I happen to find the colors in this image VERY beautiful and the light through the glass on the rear of the image adds another color that works SO well in the image. You have a great eye to pick this out. Now (*) if this were my image I'd be REALLY, really tempted to fill in hte upper right window with a "clone-in" of the other window glass (the yellow) so that all the windows appear the same. Sorry for the long comment but hey... dats me always trying to help :-) Markjay

If only they looked so inviting when all you want to do is stretch out while awaiting that blasted delayed flight! This really is very good - makes something ordinary and mundane look pretty - just like the theme asks! Cindy

I like this alot. The lighting and composition make it look like a much more interesting setting (not that the airport isn't exciting or anything). -Ed Hahn

Wow! Thank you Lonnit! I'm sure that this just picques your interest in a certain way, but shouldn't be any cause for too much excitement--I thought it fit the bill and was an ok foto....I was really lucky with the light and the general situation (background and stuff)....waking up early, and having to wait in a terminal just causes the eyes to see funny things the brain processes in a wierd way...I guess this one works for you....thank you for the compliment. PS. Please Lonnit, don't encourage any voters...LOL!...I need a break from helping setup challenges ;-)!!

Others, thanks for the kind comments on the warmth and color...I took 3-4 shots of this, since I really felt that the color and background was something one doesn't often get! This one had the right "lines" of them all I felt...

Many thanks all for the comments...

FINALLY! A REAL photograph in this challenge! Ok, maybe there's one other.... what a horrendous display we've got going - me included! This challenge's galleries are an absolute embarrassment to us all! LOL! THIS however, is a very excellent and interesting image. THANK YOU for submitting something worthy! No doubt in my mind that this is the winning photo. I've shot my load... the two I submitted are the two objects I use for testing or sudden urges to have to hear the click. This shows an artiste' at work. :) This is the kind of things you see in books on 'real' photogs. Nice job. Now the real question - am I just imagining this b/c of what it's being compared to? LOL! Naw, it's good. :) ~ Lonnit
