Thanks Michael, you have good advice - I did crop more of the lighter band off the original, but thought it was getting off balance to go deeper, maybe I should clone it out - will do that.
Tech notes: The egg was shot on a white background using a flashlight for lighting. The blue is a result of a very cold custom white balance. The warmth of the egg is a result of the light shining through the egg. A luminosity layer (I think around 40%) of a very warm white balance version was added to increase depth in the shadows in the blue and more saturation and punch to the egg.

Beautiful work. Care to share how you light this? Also, crop off the top light blue color (it's distracts viewer from the subject). Don't believe me? Cover the top 10% of this image with your hands and see what difference it will make.
