A stark reminder of the precious ecosystems we have against littering. A floating civilization in a can, floating off in the Pacific.

Michael, you know what would make me like this image more? Lose the pop can. For some reason, I'm really drawn to just the movement, texture, and color of the water alone. It would be the perfect empty space. If you feel you need the can compositionally, then I would argue that the little ripple in the lower righ hand corner accomplishes that, albeit subtlely (sp?).

Very nice image.

Hey Dave, thanks. I typically don't take negative space images but am fond of good ones. So, I'm pushing myself to do it, hence the challenge. Yes, the circle and bubble at bottom right is to balance out the subject on top. It is supposed to give some interest to the otherwise, boring negative space. I think I have a typo on the title but I probably won't have time to correct it anymore.

Hi David, thanks for the comments. I, myself weren't sure which one of the three I like best and it seems like the general public seems to prefer this one. Is it because of the story it gives?

Yes, I also find this image as the best of your three (already very good) images. I love the harmony, the color, the feel of a painting rather than a photograph. Very appealing.
Congratulations! ~David W.~

Hi Michael...Haven't had a chance to play with this new, yet great topic, but hope to soon. I see from your style you're a big fan of the neg space! All of your shots in this realm are great. I like this image for its depth of color and the serene feeling we get looking at it. The coke can is a perfect color to highlight the point, and stands out well due to the negative space....a few small picks...you might want to choose Flotsam or Floatsam, but not both for the title :) . A last little nit pick is the quarter circle ripple in the lower right which slightly distracts from the otherwise perfect picture...Cropping it out would destroy the balance, but having it there pulls on the viewer slightly....Otherwise and awesome pic. The others are awesome too, and I have no friendly nit-picking to do with them at all, just wish I could get that kind of balance in my fotos :)!

Great job, love the photos, congrats on the win last week...
