Belfast

I spent my lunchtime on Friday walking around Belfast city centre with my 70-200.
This is what I got....

I really liked the poster in the background echoing the kiss.

Canon EOS 10D ,Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L USM
1/250s f/4.5 at 140.0mm iso800 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

Cindy, your monitor is definitely too dark. Go look at the grayscale ramp here http://www.pbase.com/ctfchallenge/c73_eligible and set your monitor brightess so you can see every individual box. Prior to my brighting my monitor, this shot was STILL too light! If you think it's dark enough your monitor brightness must REALLY be way too low. There is absolutely NO true black in this image. Which, BTW IS a wonderful image! ~ Lonnit

The parallel between the poster and the couple is great. I wonder how it would look if you straighten it a bit and crop a tad from the left

Blacks looks perfect to me . . . dark but the texture still visible. I know my monitor is not callibrated and it is probably the one that is wrong, but it is frustrating that we are all looking at something different. Cindy

Excellent capture with the background poster. Phil

Thanks for the comments guys. Olaf, Lonnit, I worked on these during lunch at work so not much time spent on levels as the monitor could be off. I'll take another look at them today.

Love the shot!

Olaf, I am thrilled to hear you say that the blacks aren't dark enough. I'm going thru monitor crisis right now trying to get my brightness levels right. This looked washed out to me too. Thanks for the confirmation!

Yep, that's a keeper all right - well seen and well shot! Cindy

Same comment on this, as the other black and white (bench), both positive and constructive... The blacks need to be more black! Love the thing about the poster as well! --Olaf.dk
