I should have kept its original title "Knuckling Up." It's a photo of my grandaughter Jo anticipating a critical basketball game in which she was a key player. I thought the image reflected her pensive mood. Shu
I find that my mind wants to think "Why am I supposed to be looking at her hand?". I agree with the thoery of the focus not being sharp, however, the hand being sharper makes it the center of attention, not her face and mood. The hand should have been at least as unfocused as her face. Also, the hand being so much closer to the camera makes it overly large, again re-emphasizing it. Nice concept though. Tweak it a bit and it will be quite lovely. :) ~ Lonnit
Normally, I would agree with you Ana, but as she seems to be daydreaming with her mind unfocussed and off in the distance, I think this focus works very well. -Byron
Beautiful expression Shu. If I may give a suggestion, I would prefer the focus to be on her eyes, not her hand. Otherwise I love this portrait, the lighting is good.
