Canola Flowers*

My back yard

My first macro shot with my new 50mm 1.8 and Kenko extension tubes attached.... talk about a narrow Depth of field! (the gold flecks in the flower are from where I was spray painting a piece of foam board to make a reflector. =^))

Canon EOS 300D Digital Rebel ,Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II
1/80s f/1.8 at 50.0mm iso100 with Kenko Extension Tubes full exif

Beautiful image! I agree with Byron.....it goes beyond reality. Shu

I guess I can see what you mean. But to me the Milky quality makes it kind of dreamy and surreal... part of what happens when your mind is wide open. At a certain level, a narrow DOF will make a photo appear more as the eye truly sees it, but if it's too narrow, it's more surreal... unless of course you have bad eye sight. -Byron (me)

Put another way, it looks a bit washed out. The histogram has empty space on the left. This image, though, has no black, so I think the milky quality works better here. -- Victor

Milky finish? I'm not sure what you mean.... I'll have to search and find the other comment by olaf somewhere. -byron

A second comment is actually something that Olaf said about another picture, there is a milky finish that could be removed by adjusting the levels a bit.

Very appealing flower shot, you got the focus exactly.
