Tim, really super photo! I'm a "sucker" for good environmental portraits. In this one the horse in the background environment can be easily distinguished. In the earlier one you posted, the background was less distinct. I really like both, but this is my favorite of the two. Great job! -- R.J. (Imager)
OK, this one plays by the rules and the effect is lost. Still a good shot, but not of the same caliber as its companion image. It "says" less. I remember when you posted this series on DPReview, and some got hung up on "rules" of composition. Great example of why (a) it is good to be aware of "rules", and (b) when it is better to break them. Again, both good, but the prior image is much better, bordering on great. --Joe
