This is marvelous portrait and with a great story to go with it. As far as "happy," Traveler, well, if he's getting it out of a "bag," consider yourself lucky that your happiness is not superficial. I see loneliness and suffering in those eyes and that's why, for me, this image underlines the true nature of despair. shu

I really like this image, Traveller. I wish I was bolder in photographing strangers. The other day I saw a homeless person pushing a shopping cart. What was unusual was his cart had a solar panel that was powering a small TV! It would have been a good photo. -dtallakson

..but the problem for me is trying to decide how happy they really are...
His eyes are sparkling and clear. That is a good sign. Thanks, Traveller.

A homeless man that rides a bicycle and from time to time, helps me park my car...not that I need any help but he stands out there at night directing people where to park...it makes him feel useful.

I give him money on occasion. Most people are better to him than I am, in that sometimes he bothers me...calling me boss, following me, etc. However, this is, I think, I hope, one of my "important," pictures....whatever that means.

He is wearing hospital clothing, from Critical Care....indicating that he's been there recently, I suppose.

He drinks from a brown paper sack, sitting there on a white plastic chair eating fast food from, I think, a nearby dumpster.

He seems to be a happier human being than many....or myself.

Ahem.

I like the portrait Trav but have to admit to being a bit lost as to the explanation. My brain obviously on vacation just at this time!... ;-(

I too, miss your wonderful poetry hereto!
