3 days of less then nice weather. the White Mountains surely earned their title for challenging weather last week. My 50th birthday present as I hadn't been up here in over 20 years. Day 1 gray then rain to Mizpah Hut via Crawford (Appalachian Trail) Path in the afternoon. Day 2 left Mizpah to Lakes of the Clouds Hut on the the Crawford Path (which was renamed by my family the Crawford Stream or at times River)in persistant rain and wind. we arrived at LOC as everyone else, soaked. Next morning on to the summit. it was a 50/50 day. that is 50 deg f with fairly consistant wind gusts to 50+ mph. the visability was predicted to be 1/16 to 90 miles. needless to say from the images we fell just a little short of the upper end of the prediction. not too many pictures taken because we just didn't see all that much. which statistically speaking is pretty much status quo up there. we'll be back for more fun and frolic in the clouds.
