Plane Crash Tragedy

a single engine plane lost power and nose dived into an apartment building a few blocks from where I live. As I write this, two are known dead with many injured. I was one of the first photographers on the scene and I tried my best to document what I saw before being moved back by the police. I actually got to spend a little more time up close than much of the media, who were kept at a great distance. My prayers are with all those affected by this tragedy. To watch the professional fire and rescue personal was truely inspiring.

AN UPDATE:
The recovery effort continues around the clock. Five people have lost their lives in this tragedy, with several severely injured. Many others lost their homes and had no insurance. What I personally have taken away from this experience is complex, but one thing stands out in my mind. We are not alone. The first people on the scene were neighbors helping neighbors, strangers helping strangers. The fire department and police were there so quickly. How they assessed the situation, began rescue and triage, and moved with such professionalism, was like watching a finely tuned orchestra perform.
I tried to record what I was seeing with respect, so that others may get a feeling of how well trained these professionals were, and also, just how brave and caring the first responders were, the neighbors. My thoughts and prayers are with all affected by this event.
