anyone got knowledge on Patricia Shepley-Smith of the Tate and Lyle family. She lived in West Cork approx 1964 to 1984. I think her first name was Patricia.

Hi Steve, I loved your pictures of Siera Tramuntana, a small group of us are visiting Mallorca in May and I hope to be able to encourage the group to walk at least around the Pollenca end of the range? I also had a sneaky peaky at some of your other galleries and particularly loved, loved, loved Sinai and Petra, I have never been but think it is an absolute must for me now. My roots are in Scotland and my brother has lived in and around Aberdeenshire for the last 30 years, i shall be visiting Edinburgh for a family wedding in June but hope to fit in some time to visit an old friend (also a photographer) in Cour in Kintyre (also inspiried by your photographic journeys!!)
Many many thanks
Best regards
Dawn (Brighton)

Found your contact details amongst some old papers and decided to check your site for your recent travels. Amazed to see you were in Petra at the same time as we were in December (we were actually a couple of days behind you)! We did the Exodus Week in Jordan visiting Petra, Jerash, Kerak, Dead Sea and Wadi Rum - a great holiday! Remember us from Andalucia Exodus trip? All the best. Paul and Beverley.

Have just found a Til(l)yard family history link into the Norfolk Tillyard's of Robin Tillyard. Nice to be an albeit small part of this family way out on a remote branch. What an intelligent and fine looking family to be even a very small part of - the photo's are magnifcent. Look forward to checking the rest of this website when I have more time than now.

I was very fortunate recently to see the montage of photographs from your trip to St Kilda which brought many memories back to me when I had the privilege of visiting St Kilda myself many years ago. My thanks to you for the images and Alistair White for persuading me to watch the the DVD. regards Neil.

What wonderful pictures in your gallery. I happen to stumble across this site whilst researching some family history. My ancestors were from Shepley, Yorkshire and I remember my Grandmother talking of a William de Shepley. I actually have a huge amount of family history (on the Shepley family) written in great leather bound books, which I have yet to read, deep in my parents attic. Many thanks for the information on your website.
Regards,
Claudia Shepley-Smith

I did not know Goldthorps had got as far as adventuring in that strange country north of Hadrians Wall, most of us have not strayed far from Yorkshire.Iknow, of one George Goldthorp of York, who was sent involuntarily to Western Australia for burglary. Any chance of seeing your family tree.

Hello Steve, i really enjoyed the goldthorp Family Tree, i was wondering how extensive your research has gotten. The reason i am wondering is that my name is Tim Goldthorp and some of the names look familiar. My father, uncle, and myself have been trying to complete the tree and are hitting dead ends. your aid if possible would be appreciated.TIM

Hi Patrick, Very nice to hear from you! Canon 24-70L and Canon 70-300DO (diffractive optics) as the 'travel lens' but not really any good for birds - I will get the 400L f/5.6 and a 1.4x teleextender. Use a higher ISO 400 or so and keep the speed up >=1000 should be OK hand held :-) I'd really like the 24mm tilt and shift lens if Santa has any spares!
Clicking on full exif gives alot of the captured technical stuff (you can also see where I forgot to switch back from the high iso setting of 3200 from the prev night!
Have a good one yourself!
Steve

Wow you have some really great photos. I have thoroughly enjoyed browsing them.
Also thanks for the kind comment you left on my photo. I think it was taken at either Sands End or Staithes. I think it might have been the latter.
Thanks again

Steve,

Many thanks for your comments on my pictures.

The Hodge Close picture was taken on a recent Light&Land course at Ullswater and I hadn't been there for years, but looking at the divers websites it looks like you can get lower but I was too scared to look over the edge.

I liked your photo's of Wharfedale but then I'm an ex pat Yorkshireman.

Regards

Graham

thanks for viewing my galleries, as for your question about the moon, the exposure info is under the picture, look at this,http://www.pbase.com/graham_tomlin/image/48272725
this is uncropped. i know roughly the exposure to start taking pictures of the moon before i start as i have taken many over the years, then check the exposure on the lcd monitor on the camera, i nearly always shoot in raw mode as they easier to alter using rawshooter or photoshop. when you have viewed the picture let me know then i will take it off.
