Purple loosestrife -- flower head mutation - view 1

found on east side of Conley Road at Hobb's Drain.
This loosestrife stem had a very mutated flowerhead which
reminded me of the "brain" type of cockscomb (celosia) flowers.
UTM 18T 0429253, 5002774.

It rather looks like one, doesn't it? I think it's actually what happens to loosestrife growing downwind from one. (-:
