Stokesay Castle is one of the finest fortified manor houses in England. It was built in the 1280s by the wealthy wool merchant, Laurence of Ludlow. It provided the venue for a pbase mini-meet. True to form we arrived in pouring rain (though it did brighten up later).
You've covered every viewing angle it seems, bar one.If you return to the car park, follow the lane to the adjacent farm, you pass a large farm pond on your right.A public footpath goes through the field up to the railway.I've taken many shots of the castle from the field beside the pond.seehttp://www.pbase.com/taggart51/image/93770401
