Herefordshire Haymaking

Cutting a hay meadow using scythes. As it happens only the last mower is using an English scythe in this one, the leads being Austrian, Alpine and Swedish. You may wonder why there is not a millimeter of steel in sight; well its because the job is being done properly and the blade remains an inch above the ground and parallel to it throughout the stroke. Will go on to the scythes, the dog etc in the next image

other sizes: small medium large original

Fascinating to see the old ways still being used.
