This male Purple Finch came to my feeder in 2007 with aone blackened leg. He seemed to get around pretty well, but I didn't expect to see him this year (2008). However, he hass apparently returned with a healed leg, and doing very well. He has adapted by hunkering down on a thick branch when roosting, and balances on a narrow perch on the feeder by fluttering his wings a bit more than a two-legged bird. Other birds don't seem to pester him as I though they might. I wonder if he has bred successfully....
In any case I am very glad to see him and will follow him as much as possible throughout the season, and, who knows, into next year?
