The Big Squeeze

Just one more squeeze out of the Turnip!

I scanned one of those bar codes. That is what the texture is on the face and hand and also along the side. The bar code is for the iPhone and Android. It's probably copyrighted. The the man’s face and the hand are from ImageAfter. The little girl is from one of my clip collections. (I hope). If you are wondering about the mouth, that is from the person reading the Seattle Times newspaper that came today. Just one more crazy thing going on in this world.

Fantastic use of the barcode, Mary! The repetition is just so kewl...I love the Eastern Asian ink seal look of the barcode on the right. Graphic and painterly at the same time with a wonderful lipstick palette! Really terrific. ~Meg

How about a little anger over the almost zero interest rates on savings accounts? Interesting mix of images - especially that screaming guy. LOL.

Good job--your version of "Guernica"? Are we at war with the money honchos, or just struggling to stay ahead of them?

There is a photographer who has taken Walker Evans' images from the public domain, and now calls them hers--After Walker Evans--and she is published in the books on the history of photography. And I say again, "Really"?!! For Real? So they are her originals?

I'd 'a just asked the Newspaper for permission to begin with, good luck with that. I don't think you wanna ask a newspaper just that way, after the factually, as to be all in their face so take that, all hack them YO attitude. Your call though Skunk? ))

ha ha. Recently I was a a museum and one of the pieces I looked at was an exact replica of another famous artist's work. That was the concept of the piece. Copy. So I am the bad guy and I don't care. So who hacked into the phone's and email to get their info to sell more newspapers? Well, so there you go. I should send this back to the editor that wrote this article and see if he even responds.--skunk

So you have the guts to steal copyrighted material but you don't have the guts to Make it Yours?
Picasso used to make guitars out of the newspaper clippings in his collages, awesome metaphore. A shank made out of this newspaper article is nothing short of very clever. Tim might even say cleaver. "Shank Of America Takes the Plunge." Very funny stuff Skunk but as a skunk I can see Stank too= ))

Good comment, Otis. A prison skank or phallcic symbol would be good. I just didn't have the guts to use it although I thought about it. Tim would though, I think. He is a pretty gutsy guy. I think "stank" or "Stink of America" would work too. I protested by using my feet to do the walking.--skunk

Love the QR code projected on the dudes face. The copyright issue is the photograph of a copyrighted article w/ AP graph. You could make it a Parody just by changing a few words, "Shank of America" "Debit-card provokes shanking from Hand into Mouth. How would a prison shank look coming out of the hand? Phallicly criminal no doubt.
