Jan 08 - Roman Rainbow

Witcombe, Gloucestershire

The ruins of Witcombe Roman Villa are only a few miles from home and yet somewhere we’ve never visited until today.
I have to say, those Romans chose sites with good views.
A small shower brought some added colour with a very temporary rainbow.

Not as impressive as others have posted recently but I’ll take it.

Great capture! And a super splash of colour too!! 'Tis a great place, you're quite right there :o)

What a great capture Brian. A lovely landscape with a mighty old tree and a super rainbow to boot!
I know what you mean about visting something historical and near. Familiarity breeds contempt. I lived very near Lancaster Castle for 20 years but didn't actually go inside it until on a visit from Australia.

Mmm yeah - that tree's a cracker - and the rainbow's not too shabby either :o)

That's a gorgeous with with those mighty trees and the rainbow is an added bonus.

the sort of pic that makes one keep trying for landscapes in winter; great tree, nice rainbow
